Building History
How It All Started
It's a God
thing!" is one way to describe how Crossroads
Community Church came into being. In December
of 1996 Eddie attended a meeting in Atlanta and
while there met Ron Lucas who shared the same
passion and vision for God's kingdom and
ministry. They discussed the possibility and
feasibility of starting a church in Sullivan.
After much prayer and preparation Crossroads was
born September 26, 1998.

Building History
The historic
Sherman House, a 1917 dinner theatre was rented
for the services. After several months of
renting the facility it was decided to purchase
the building. The theater has an interesting
history behind it. The building was
actually constructed in the 1880's but was
destroyed by fire in 1916. T.K. Sherman rebuilt
the facility and reopened it in 1917. Once
rebuilt some of the amenities included an
electric elevator, lavatories with hot and cold
running water in all the offices, and a modern
vacuum system. The focus of the building is a
650 seat theater with indirect lighting, ornate
plaster relief, balconies and large stained
glass chandeliers.

Recently we
have renovated the offices and classrooms
upstairs but the other areas remain the same. We
are looking forward to renovating other areas to
provide even more space to do God's work.
Although the building is a wonderful facility,
it is not the focus of Crossroads. The main
purpose of Crossroads is to provide a place to
find direction in a confusing world through
Bible based ministry and our Lord Jesus Christ.

What
We Believe
-
We believe that each individual matters to God,
and therefore they matter to us. This includes
the concept of relational evangelism as a
process.
Luke 5:30-32,
Luke 15
-
We believe the church should be culturally
relevant while remaining true to the principles
of the Bible. This includes the concept of being
sensitive to our culture and using culturally
current communication, methods as we relate the
gospel.
1Corinthians 9:19-23
-
We believe a church should operate as a unified
community of servants with everyone using their
spiritual gifts for the benefit of others. This
includes the concepts of unity, servant hood,
spiritual gifts and ministry calling.
Romans 12,
Ephesians 4
-
We believe that authentic biblical community is
practiced best through small groups. This
includes the concepts of relational
transparency, unconditional love, continuous
spiritual growth, doing life together, and
caring for one another.
Acts 2:46-47
-
We believe that ministry to children is one of
the most vital ministries in the church. and
therefore, we pursue excellence, excitement and
relevance in all that we do for children. This
includes providing a safe, fun and creative
atmosphere for kids to learn about Jesus and His
love for them.
Matthew 18: 1-6
-
We believe that the most effective way to
fulfill the "Great Commission" is to start new
churches and we are committed to making that
happen. This includes modeling and sending.
